It is a perfect retreat for a family looking to spend some quality time together. We booked it with the intention of having some fun beach time and some great seafood at Goa with parents and children in tow , for a change. We were looking at experiencing Goa - differently . And that's just the way it turned out - A 'different' Goa. Once at the villa, you ease into the sheer beauty of the space so effortlessly, that you would want to spend the entire time exploring the little nooks and corners of the beautiful villa. Two days is not enough - there's corners to read , there's more corners to laze , there's many more corners to contemplate...and once you have done all of that , there's the vast verandah to sit and slurp in some nature. It's best experienced when you go as a large family & book the entire villa for yourselves . Kudos to the architect for restoring the villa so sensitively. The flooring in the entire villa is precious and to die for - I could do with some samples to take home :). It was sheer joy wandering through the thick vegetation and the varieties of plants ,flowers & fruits growing in the frontyard . It was sheer joy watching the colourful butterflies and birds that paid us a visit. It was the greatest joy lazing around as a family on the spacious verandah and chatting away through numerous cups of chai. The villa is maintained very well by the caretakers . It was spic and span the whole time . Food is very homely and wholesome. Sea food lovers , do note that Sunita whips up some yummy prawn curry -rice.Breakfasts are scrumptious and elaborate.Make sure to give them a heads up on what you would like to eat for the next meal & Vijay will ensure you have it on the table. Make sure to carry your swimwear - the pool is medium sized, yet just right for the family to have some leisurely time in the afternoons. The large Living space that forms the centre of the villa calls for family games ,antaakshari , music and dance. Social media freaks & couch potatoes ,beware - this is a place to forget the world and be with yourself .Come prepared for some guaranteed me time-you will treasure it. So, yes,it was a 'different' Goan holiday.. without really venturing out into the 'Goa' we all know of.

My dad and I decided to get away from the madness of Mumbai for a couple of days. Set in a restored-to-perfection and tastefully done up old Portuguese villa, it is quietly tucked away in the sleepy neighborhood of Moira in North Goa. We took the room upstairs which offered great views of the garden that's spread in its compound. I also found it to be the perfect place to introspect and write. Our room had a beautiful balcony with lovely white curtains, best enjoyed with a morning cuppa. The staff is trained so well and extremely courteous - Sunita, the cook, can rustle up some delectable Goan food - I am now a fan of her Goan fish curry and rawa-fried prawns and pomfret! After breakfast, we got relaxing massages by Josef post which we jumped into the pool for some R&R along with a couple of beers. The garden abounds with lemons, basil, bananas, pomegranates and pineapple - something Sunita and the resident gardener were super proud to show off! What's beautiful is that it is the perfect balance of the luxuries of a five-star hotel and comfort of a home. You can enjoy your holiday at your own pace and ask Sunita to make whatever you would like to eat (she goes to the market to buy fresh produce and seafood everday). Each piece of furniture is carefully picked out and it looks like the decorators have put their heart and soul into doing up the place. It really feels like a labour of love. For anyone who wants to experience nightlife, it is just 15-min away from Baga beach, even though it isn't influenced by the madness at all. I would recommend this place to everyone looking for a peaceful and luxurious getaway from the city. I am planning to go back for my friend's bachelorette party soon!

We stayed at the villa twice. Once a month ago, when Sajida and her family invited us to spend a day at this newly constructed gorgeous property and once last week when we decided to spend a weekend (Friday-Sat) at this gorgeous bungalow. Everything about this villa talks to you of two things - luxury and peace. A perfect combination of ultra-luxury and the quiet, sleepy town peace of Moira. All we spent our time was in clicking pictures of the property, lazying around in the pool, relaxing on the sofa at the verandah reading books, breakfast by the sun-kissed verandah, listening to the birds chirping, and having a quiet drink at the terrace in the evening. This property was painstakingly restored to its former glory by Sajida, her daughter Mandira. Every piece of furniture, every artefact points to the quiet luxury of Goa. Kudos to Suneeta, who cooked some delicious Goan prawn curry and friend mackereel with Goan "Poli" Villa de Moira- a perfect mixture of Goan tranquil village life, Portuguese heritage and the luxuries of modern life.
